This meal is hosted.
I already had a Ladies Night at FOH Restaurant in Downtown LA; they launched a new menu so Abe and I use it as an excuse to have a romantic date night. Which means, bring on the vegetarian food! The star of the evening is this Fried Guacamole.
Have you ever eaten anything like this? I’ve had fried avocado before in the form of a taco, and also cut up as fries. But there’s something about it being in a fat chunky ball. I guess it reminds me of a cheese ball. At any rate, it is absolutely irresistible with tortilla chips.
I love Romanesco Broccoli, even though it kinda reminds me of Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes) head. Dressed simply with fresno chili, olive oil, and lemon.
A Southwest Salad that I eat the bulk of – tossed in a peanut cilantro vinaigrette.
All of the small plates are impressive, from Watermelon with Burrata/Fennel to Beets tangy from grapefruit.
I love this Jalapeno Cornbread with honey butter so hard!
A couple non-vegetarian dishes for me to try – Octopus/Shrimp Ceviche…
…and an Asada Taco drowning in yummy (non-fried) guacamole.
For dessert, a Mango Panna Cotta light as air, yet rich at the same time.
Next time I come back, I’m bringing the family?
