The Spheres at MacArthur Park in Echo Park

The Spheres at MacArthur Park make me (and my dog) so happy.

My latest Artist Date involves my Jack Russell, Julius.  The Spheres at MacArthur Park is a “an unprecedented public art and civic initiative [involving] more than 3,500 – 7,000 children and adults in an amazing visual makeover and revitalization of iconic MacArthur Park.”

We actually did not read about this – we are driving by when we notice the colorful water, and a lot of people.  Local schools/community groups/hospitals participate in the painting of these giant floating spheres…

…and volunteers help fill/install them.

Julius (who made his first Snapchat video) isn’t too impressed…

…and neither are the birds…

…but I am having a ball.  I think what the Massey Brothers are doing is incredible.

You can see the spheres on display in the park for the next few weeks, before they’re sent to women’s shelters and hospitals.  I suggest grabbing some food from Langer’s Deli nearby before/after.

I don’t think I’ve ever walked around MacArthur Park before, so I’m glad to have an excuse to explore.  I hope the spheres introduce more people to this area of Los Angeles.  I’m trying to think of more art exhibitions that I can bring my dog too!
