Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop Breakfast

breakfast - drinks - fruit - restaurant - vegetarian

It’s been a while since I’ve visited Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop – last time I was at the Beverly Hills location was 2010, and I saw Weird Al!

No celeb-sightings today, but I did get to hang out with Devon, who invited me to try out their breakfast menu.

We began with a moist, flavorful Banana Walnut Bran Muffin…

…then moved on to more deliciousness!

DSCN5908

Another sweet muffin caught my eye – this was a toasted English one, with low fat Peanut Butter, Banana, and High Protein Granola…

DSCN5897

…doesn’t usually come with their homemade fruit compote – but Devon was in the know and asked for a side of blueberry.

An egg white “Mexiplosion Omelet” – with black bean, corn salsa, tomato, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño jack cheese, and avocado…

…and their fresh juices – which you can order pure or customize.

DSCN5907

Had a sip – Devon’s concoction was very green but surprisingly tasty – lots of ginger!

DSCN5913

Last, but not least, a little seasonal fruit salad with mint and coconut.

My plates…

…the rest was boxed up to go…

…and delivered up the street to Abe at Huffington Post Live!

Tiato

brunch - restaurant

Abe and I are already big fans of House of An – we loved our lunch at Crustacean and were excited when they invited us to try Tiato’s new Summer Sunday Brunch.

DSCN4711

Located inside the MTV/Lionsgate building, there’s a market section to grab lunch on the go…

DSCN4739

…and a beautiful restaurant for more formal dining.

DSCN4734

We sat outside (on the largest outdoor patio in Santa Monica) to experience the brand new Grilling Station…

DSCN4745

…and were seated at a table next to Helene An!!!

DSCN4722

“Mama” and her daughter (owner Catherine) took such incredible care of us – they also made sure Abe’s vegetarian diet was accommodated.

I had a bite of his Vietnamese Crepe…

…and enjoyed one stuffed with Chicken and Prawns myself. This is a MUST order – crispy + egg-y.

We also got samples of their Truffled Mac and Cheese…

…House Cured Salmon on Corn Belini…

(Abe’s did not have fish)

…and two small salads – Fried Egg with Canadian Bacon for me…

…and one with Pear/Candied Walnuts for Abe. Usually this one comes with a Poached Egg, but they’ll do the Fried Version if you ask – here’s video of the yolk in action!

DSCN4774

Of course, no An Restaurant experience is complete without some of their signature Garlic Noodles – these were made fresh on the grill!

DSCN4787

Bit of Abe’s tofu…

DSCN4799

…plus some of his zucchini, with my Chicken portion.

DSCN4794

DSCN4797

Last, but certainly not least…

DSCN4818

…French Toast Banana Foster with Bourbon Vanilla Maple Syrup + Pecan Chantilly Cream…

DSCN4819

…plus housemade pastries – Sweet, Savory + Spicy Corn Bread, Coffee Cake, and a Banana Muffin…

DSCN4811

…with butter!

DSCN4809

I had two servings. You know me and sweets.

This epic meal really lifted my spirits for my very first father-less Father’s Day. Thanks so much to the An Family for their generosity, care, and DELICIOUS food.

Sunday Brunch kicks off all summer long from 11am – 3pm – parking in the area is a cinch since nobody’s working in the area.  Oh, there’s live music too!

Savory not Sweet

bakeries/cafes/dessert places - breakfast

I sometimes accompany Abe to Coffee + Food during the week before HuffPostLive – am always intrigued by their treats (and often snap photos of it) but am never hungry enough to order anything.

DSCN3973

Finally had an appetite this morning – the Savory Muffin was calling my name…

DSCN3972

…and so was the Spinach and Feta Quiche.

DSCN3978

DSCN3977

The latter has a salad, and the former comes with pesto + butter…

DSCN3987

…but I just had my halves plain.

Both were delicious – the muffin tasted like a fluffy biscuit atop a dough-y bottom, and the quiche was very Spinach-Pie-esque. Made us both miss Astoria!!!
