Nick’s on 2nd

blogger meetup - breakfast - restaurant - vegetarian

Just got back from a little drive down to Long Beach with Emily to meet Karla at Nick’s on 2nd.

The breakfast menu is small, but filled with many good choices.

I ordered an egg white omelet with spinach, fruit…

…and homemade English Muffin.

Karla opted for waffles…

…and Emily ordered Omar’s Skillet – eggs, hash browns, chorizo, cheese, salsa, black beans, avocado…basically everything in the world.

Ojai Valley Inn and Spa

breakfast - travel

Oh, take me back to Ojai!!!  Here’s the magical place we stayed – The Ojai Valley Inn and Spa.  Situated on a golf course…

…with majestic grounds and many pools.  My tip – go to the spa one if you want shade/quiet!

I didn’t actually utilize any of the spa services or classes…

…mostly we hung out in here.

This is one of the Wallace Neff Rooms, which includes a wonderful view of the mountains…

…two free drinks in the evening, and complimentary breakfast.

I ordered an Egg White Omelet with Kale/Shrooms/Tomatoes, while Abe got the Granola and Yogurt Breakfast.

The unexpected winner was the salsa!

Stayed indoors; it was a bit too warm during our trip to be outside…

…though there are plenty of interesting places for that too.

If you’ve been to Ojai, what are your favorite places to stay?  We plan on coming back in November; loved this hotel, obviously, but it’s a bit $$$.

It may be February…

…but we’re in Los Angeles and the weather is INCREDIBLE!!!

Had a walk-n-phone this morning that took a lot longer than I thought – when I hung up, it was time to hop in the car, and head to the dentist for a checkup!

IMG_0222

Dipped into my energy bar stash for breakfast during the drive – finally tried the Larabar Cappuccino. Not really a fan (I also don’t love coffee-flavored-things in general) but it did keep me full for three hours…

IMG_0224

…good thing, since I wound up waiting almost 50 minutes at Dr. Stahle’s! She just moved down the street, and I’m not sure if this is indicative of the new staff, or if they were having a particularly crazy day…

IMG_0225

…this office doesn’t have DVD movies to watch (but there is CNN on the TV). She’s the same great dentist, though, and I still took home a goody bag!!!

No cavities (always a surprise/relief for this candy addict) but she did give me some bad news – I’ve known for years that I grind my teeth at night, but it’s really starting to affect my gums/bone loss. In the past, I’ve used a cheap drugstore night guard, but stopped since it was uncomfortable and kept falling out while I slept. I would love to hear any of your experiences with getting a custom-fit one, since my insurance doesn’t cover the cost, and I want to make sure it’s worth the $$$?

Time to cut into this hideous beast of a melon I just picked up. See ya later!
