Dolce Isola

bakeries/cafes/dessert places - blogger meetup

That’s my new blogging buddy Caroline!  She was my date while touring B&K Sugar Arts Lab; afterwards we sauntered down the street to Dolce Isola

…a.k.a. The Ivy Bakery.  I’ve eaten at The Ivy once, long before blogging, with Poom – she was in town visiting and wanted to spot a celebrity.  (We saw Hulk Hogan.)

This cafe is a lot more manageable; we went the day before Thanksgiving, so there were lots of pies on the counter…

…I was also intrigued by the gelato…

…but we wound up with flakey, buttery croissants.  There was a pumpkin cookie, too – didn’t snap a photo, but it was perfection.

Nick’s on 2nd

blogger meetup - breakfast - restaurant - vegetarian

Just got back from a little drive down to Long Beach with Emily to meet Karla at Nick’s on 2nd.

The breakfast menu is small, but filled with many good choices.

I ordered an egg white omelet with spinach, fruit…

…and homemade English Muffin.

Karla opted for waffles…

…and Emily ordered Omar’s Skillet – eggs, hash browns, chorizo, cheese, salsa, black beans, avocado…basically everything in the world.

Long time virtual friends, now real-life ones too!

Beauty and the Bees

blogger meetup - dessert

As mentioned in my previous blog post, I attended a little lady date (with SaraLeah, Natalie, ChristineJoanneAnn) organized by Nastassia

…at Honeymee in Koreatown.  As you can see, there’s pure honeycomb involved…

…which may have been why we had to move our location a few times – LIVE BEES WERE ATTACKING US!

I stuck to a plain flavor…

…the menu is small, but you can get pretty fancy.

Though I had a lot of fun with my honeys, I won’t be revisiting – the ice cream alone isn’t worth it – the parking’s a pain, and I’m allergic to stings.  Buzz kill.
