When I first moved to LA, I often stood in long lines for breakfast. One place I really loved was Salt’s Cure, which I first blogged about in 2011. Back then, I’d get a group together to wait on Santa Monica – we became obsessed with their pancakes. Eventually, Salt’s Cure moved to a bigger spot on Highland – with a bar and outdoor patio.
The restaurant recently opened a breakfast concept in their old space, and I couldn’t wait to try it. The vibe is really casual – with an open kitchen and a very small menu. You order at the counter, get a number, wait, and get hungry.
Lucky for me, they now make gluten-free pancakes. And MY WORD they are good. I asked for butter and sugar on the side – but other toppings include Chocolate Chip, Banana Nut, Pink Lady Apple, and Blueberry. You can get 3 for $8-10, or a single cake for $4.
Hash Browns with homemade “Slow n Low” Ketchup and two Sunny Side Eggs (get ’em flipped too) are both just $3 each. No wait, even on Father’s Day. Check out the video below to see more of the restaurant in action!
