800 Degrees has been on my radar for the last few years (you may remember that I’m a big fan of co-owner Adam Fleischman’s Umami Burger). I feel like they were the first to debut the customizable-quick-service-pizza-concept; I never made it to the original site in Westwood, but now there’s one in Hollywood right up the street from me – next door to my second home, Arclight Cinemas.
They were actually giving away free pies opening night; as you can imagine that promotion was quite popular, so they treated us to a meal on a less crowded date. Not only can pizzas be made personalized, but salads too.
I kinda went crazy – I put everything from the salad bar in there plus some stuff from the pizza toppings section as well!
Dough choices are Gluten-Free (corn, rice, soy), Crispy/Cracker-like, or chewy/Neopolitan. We opted for the latter…
…with a Margherita base of crushed tomato, mozzarella, parmesan, olive oil, basil, and olive oil.
Extra toppings – roasted garlic, olives, and caramelized onions. Followed by a 60-second trip into the wood-fired, 800-degree oven.
Loved it! I ate mostly salad…
…Abe ate mostly pizza.
They’ve got sides too! Everything from Meatballs to Broccolini with Calabrian Chiles…
…and gelato for dessert.
We were too full to eat it there, so we got some cups to go – Stracciatella and Mint Chocolate Chip. Best “fast food” leftovers.
