How to Throw an Easy Baby Shower

An Easy Baby Shower (or Sprinkle) for my friend Christy Meyers at Chado Tea Room in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

For Mother’s Day this year, let’s throw an easy baby shower!

My friend Christy Meyers is having her second baby – another boy.  (Her due date is MONDAY.)  Technically, this more “low key” affair is called a “Sprinkle” – which means there’s only one place to get the cupcakes: Sprinkles, duh.  I got a variety of six regular/chocolate-themed ones (Christy’s favorite flavor) plus a couple gluten-free and vegan options.

Four of us split the costs/responsibilities – I stuck to my strengths (choosing dessert and taking photos) while the more organized/crafty folks took care of the rest.  To make things easier with cleanup and cooking, we hosted the event at Chado Tea Room in Hollywood. baby shower flowers

In addition to the cupcakes, they let us bring our own flowers (which we stuffed into mason jars).  We also brought our own glasses/champagne/juices…

…but of course there was tea…

…and a bunch of adorable tiny sandwiches with the crusts cut off.

Cucumber, Smoked Salmon, Egg Salad, and Chicken – lots of mayo and cream cheese!

Scones with cream and marmalade – plus petit fours.

No baby shower games.  Thank God.

Everyone went home with a little tea cup/pot (found at the thrift store) stuffed with succulents.  Even if you killed them (and I will) there’s something in my cupboard to always remember this day.
