My First Chinese Food Buffet

My first Chinese food buffet with my Chinese family.

Believe it or not, this is my first Chinese food buffet with these people, at least!

Reunion!

I have of course eaten at a Chinese buffet before – I believe I may have even gone to one with Abe’s parents.  But never with my side of the family – we cook Chinese food at home, or go to Chinese restaurants that don’t have pizza/garlic toast on the menu.

Pizza and Corn

My last visit was so long ago, I can’t even remember what they’re actually like.  I may have still been in college?!?

Asia Buffet was a good choice for a large group of 15.  I missed Cousin Hannah when I saw this Ambrosia Salad

…that was part of a salad bar…

…which I mostly partook from.  Have you ever seen a more random plate?  Everything from Coconut Shrimp to Garlic Noodles and a Fried Banana – I even snagged pickled ginger from the Sushi section!

Also, some General Tso’s Chicken, which I was craving heavily after watching the movie.  I don’t even know if I’ve ever eaten this before (I’m sure I must have, but I can’t think of when that might have happened) but I highly recommend it – both the dish and the movie.

My dad passed away 3 years ago today.  I wonder if he had ever eaten at one of these buffets.  I have a feeling he didn’t.
