National Pretzel Day

National Pretzel Day!  And here come the pretzels!  I think pretzels are going to be a life-long food for me.  I loved them as a kid, I love them now, and I’m pretty sure when I’m an old lady with no teeth to chew – I’ll still love them.

Here are six of my favorite ways to eat them (other than straight up, in hummus, dipped in mustard, or slathered in chocolate):

  1. Croissant-Form
  2. Broken into a Blizzard
  3. As a vehicle for Jalapeño Jam/Cream Cheese
  4. With Water Ice
  5. Sandwich Bread
  6. Cleaning out the end of a Peanut Butter Jar

And of course – one of my favorite recipes of all time – Peanut Butter Pretzel Muffins!

Here are six mouth-watering creations from blog friends, some I’ve had saved to my Pinterest board for years:

  1. Strawberry Pretzel Parfaits (Dessert for Two)
  2. Mini Pretzel Dogs (Joy the Baker)
  3. Blueberry Pretzel Clusters (Keep it Sweet)
  4. Dude Food Magic Bars (SugarHero)
  5. Pretzel Stout Pancakes (We Are Not Martha)
  6. Baked Pretzel Donuts (A Cozy Kitchen)

These pretzels are making me thirsty…

I grew up on the best pretzels in the world. When I was in elementary school each week a student was picked to buy pretzels from the pretzel vendor outside They were the soft kind. Some kids bought 10 or 15 at a time. I think they were no more than 3 or 5 cents a piece back then. I am happy that the pretzel is being honored
