Van Saun Park and In Napoli – NJ

I haven’t been back to Van Saun Park since I was 10.  This is where we went on weekends, for school trips.  I have such fond memories…

…but I certainly don’t remember there being marsupials!  How is there a kangaroo in Bergen County, NJ?!?

Snakes…

…on a train!  My niece Mella is the cutest, isn’t she?  The train ride was always my favorite part about the park.

I’m kinda obsessed with NJ Italian Food since we finished The Sopranos last year, so I was pumped for takeout from In Napoli in Fort Lee.  Frank Vincent (who plays “Phil Leotardo” on the show) has actually eaten there!

This is mostly takeout for my nieces and nephews, but everything is still great, straight outa foil containers.  They make perfectly breaded Chicken Fingers…

…Lobster Ravioli with Shrimp in a creamy sauce…

…and Garlic Bread.  For some reason, I only eat garlic bread when I’m in NJ.

I have a few bites of everything above, but mostly concentrate on this House Salad – it comes dressed already, which this LA girl isn’t expecting.  Very heavy on the oil and vinegar, and kinda greasy.

Stellar view of the San Rocco fireworks from my Mom’s place!  The kids are mesmerized, and so am I.

Sounds like a fabulous trip so far! The lobster ravioli and garlic bread look superb.
