Glendale isn’t exactly around the corner from me, but the invitation to try Brazilian Restaurant Gauchos Village’s Rodizio Churrascaria got me on the freeways this afternoon!
At the back of the giant sun-lit room stands a long buffet…
…filled with fresh salads…
…and hot food…
…including vegetarian baked beans!
Everything is labeled, and the friendly staff is around to answer any questions. (I was SUPER excited to learn one of our server’s name was Julius.) Very curious about this Farofa, made from yuca flour, which I was told to sprinkle on top of my rice with a little Chimichurri.
For the most part, I ate vegetarian (FYI there are a surprising number of vegan options)…
The waiters come around and carve you slices until you say STOP!!!
(“Meat and a Spiel.”)
She raved about the Garlic Beef and Chicken – I did try a couple bites, plus a piece of pork rib.
They even roasted pineapple – coated in sugar and cinnamon.
For dessert, we got the Coconut Flan, which I dug.
Who knew Prunes could be so sexy?
Our meals were comped, but a lunch on the weekend is around $16 or $24 with the meat option – prices are cheaper on weekdays, and don’t include drinks. We sampled a flight of yummy juices – Cashew, Passion, Mango, and Guava.
A great place to bring a large group of people – will have to come back at night when they have live entertainment!
