Abe and I visited Gracias Madre for Valentine’s Day and loved it – this time I brought my camera along, and a few dining companions – Sam and John.

We ordered several dishes to share; all fantastic.

On the side, Corn Tortillas – 2 orders of soft ones, and one fried for leftover sauce dipping. We got an additional side of Nacho Cheese too – FYI it’s pretty tiny.

When Abe left to feed the meter, we ordered some dessert and asked the staff to sing Happy Birthday to him. Spiced Pumpkin Cake with Coconut Ice Cream…

A few friends who’ve been here (both vegan and non) have given Gracias Madre lackluster reviews, but all four of us left very happy with our evening, and wanting to return soon.  I’ll keep recommending it as one of my favorite new restaurants in LA.

How was the fried cauliflower? It seems to be the new “it” vegetable as far as substitutes for carb/meat dishes.

I think I want to visit this place just to try the fried cauliflower with nacho cheese! At first I thought it was mushrooms and cheese from the looks of it.

I agree; I love Gracias Madre for both the food and the ambiance!

The epicenter was only about 2 miles from where I live. It was quite the Monday wake-up call!
