A Tale of Two Bread Puddings

For Friday’s Ladies’ Night, I made two different types of bread pudding.

One utilizing La Brea Bakery’s classic Chocolate Sour Cherry…

…and the other was a Gluten-Free Version, finishing up a bag of white bread.

Both were dairy free.

I used Nourishing Joy’s Slow Cooker Bread Pudding recipe (subbing coconut milk and adding chocolate)…

…and baked the Gluten-Free Version, following my own formula (replacing the chocolate with raisins).

I also swapped out 1/4 cup of the sugar for Dulce De Leche (<—another recipe to come)…

…and sprinkled this Bourbon Smoked Sugar on top (a birthday gift from Joy while she was in Kentucky, doing Our Town).

…but man are they tasty!  I think I prefer my bread pudding crispy – the crockpot results in a more flan-like texture.
