25 Years of La Brea Bakery

in bakeries/cafes/dessert places, food events, salads

Oh, that bread – I’ve only lived in Los Angeles for 8 years, but every one of them has involved these ubiquitous loaves.

For its 25th Anniversary, La Brea Bakery moved to a new spot up the street (Republique inhabits the old one) with a bar, beautiful wood-burning oven, and daily breakfast/lunch/dinner menu.

I came for the Grand Opening event on January 30th, to help celebrate Hourie’s new gig, and taste some of the pastries she helped develop…

She introduced me to some La Brea Bakery classics – the Pine Nut Macaroon…

We sat and enjoyed a little salad together too – Bloomsdale Spinach, Hard Boiled Eggs, Avocado, Pancetta, Blue Potatoes, Balsamic Onions, and Green Goddess Dressing.

Love the look of the new La Brea Bakery space! I used to go to the old one all the time when I lived in LA. Their baguettes are my fave.

I want to try everything here! Looks like the perfect place for a coffee break :)
