The ride from Borrego Springs to Julian, CA is charming…

Everywhere we looked, there was pie. PIE. PIEEEEEEE!  (You know my feelings about that.)

Went with Moms

…because they were making it in the window. Pats of butter literally beckoning me inside.

So glad we stepped in. My heart almost exploded with Holiday cheer.  (They’ve got an adorable bathroom door, too.)

Then…

…and picked up a whole bunch of brochures for all the area hotels. I know where I’m coming back for my next getaway!

I went hiking with some friends out there like 10 years ago and that pie was definitely the highlight of the trip! Still my favorite apple pie to date – that crumbly crust. TO DIE.

This little town reminds me of a favorite spot outside of Austin.

On your next Austin, TX excursion, I highly recommend you and Abe take a little drive to Fredericksburg and Enchanted Rock, which lie in the heart of central Texas peach orchards. There will definitely be pie, but also some of the best peach strudel you will find anywhere.
