August 5, 2013

in breakfast, travel

I giddy’d up this morning with granola + Maranatha Almond Butter on a toasted English Muffin…

…off to Emerald Bay State Park for an early morning hike!

I try to walk daily, but rarely work up a sweat. FYI – this trail is wide, and not outrageously steep.

(That’s not our family being all adventurous.)

We’re more “stand and stare” people.

Also checked out Vikingsholm

…but only from the outside…

…apparently the folks who built this mansion also put a tea house on the island.

(No plans on going out there, either.)

We did stop by the gift shop, where a chipmunk named “Cashew” got busy with some pistachios behind the desk.

The parking lot is small so if you go early, you won’t have a problem. (And bring cash – it’s $10 on the honor system.)

Back at our own Vikingsholm for some food and rest!

We went up to Tahoe in April and Emerald Bay was definitely our favorite spot. Didn’t get to hike though… :-( Nvm, yet another reason for us to go again soon.
