For our last meal in NJ, Abe and I took my Mom out for dinner…
…crossing the border into Rockland County, NY. The restaurant we chose, O lar, is a teeny tiny gem – this oven took up most of the place!
They have a partnership with Stone Barns, one of the last places I visited with my father, so of course I honored his memory with some fresh veggies. Started off with a Salt Roasted Beet Salad – frisee, toasted pistachio, ricotta salata, and cava vinaigrette.
Tried a bite of Abe’s flatbread…
…which came with white bean, beet, and olive spreads.
And finally – Paella Valenciana with saffron arborio, clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari, scallops, and chorizo.
Polished off two platefuls…
…but as you can see, my mother and I barely made a dent.
Affagato on the house!
I ate all the vanilla gelato, leaving behind the cinnamon, and most of the espresso.
