Savory not Sweet

bakeries/cafes/dessert places - breakfast

I sometimes accompany Abe to Coffee + Food during the week before HuffPostLive – am always intrigued by their treats (and often snap photos of it) but am never hungry enough to order anything.

Finally had an appetite this morning – the Savory Muffin was calling my name…

…and so was the Spinach and Feta Quiche.

The latter has a salad, and the former comes with pesto + butter…

…but I just had my halves plain.

Both were delicious – the muffin tasted like a fluffy biscuit atop a dough-y bottom, and the quiche was very Spinach-Pie-esque. Made us both miss Astoria!!!

Wow! That savory muffin looks amazing–I am seriously considering making something like that for brunch tomorrow. Of to scour the internet for recipes. Were there any flavors that stood out to you? I see cheese and something green (spinach?). Yum!

There was scallion, sundried tomato, and goat cheese (I think!)

Okay–had to report back. After you replied, I started scouring recipes online and ended up with this http://crumbsandcookies.blogspot.com/2012/01/savory-cheese-and-chive-muffins.html

I replaced the walnuts with sun-dried tomatoes and used all cheddar cheese. I did not get them made until lunch, so we had them with a mixed green salad topped with dried cranberries, almonds and balsamic vinaigrette. Delish!

Awesome – this may save us lots of $$$! Thanks so much for sharing.
