Killer Pussy Riot

I’ve heard about Dave’s Killer Bread for years, but only via Portland-area bloggers…

…was very excited to see it in-the-dough at my local grocery store, and to read Dave’s very inspiring story.

Started off with a super seed-y slice…

…and added Jem Cinnamon Red Maca Almond Butter on top.

This spread is pretty killer, too – like a drippy Nutella.  Happy to report they reached their Kickstarter goal!

After polishing off a Farmer’s Market Nectarine, I headed out to LACMA for a screening of Pussy Riot – A Punk Prayer.

Kinda made me long for my E.D. Sedgwick days, but it’s not just about punk rock music. Strong feminist themes + politics + the freedom of expression…all beautifully woven together in 90 minutes. The documentary will air on HBO starting June 10th and I highly recommend watching it.

We stayed for the Q&A moderated by Elvis Mitchell, who I adore…

…then came home to miso, frozen grapes, and a Lindt White Choclate Truffle.

That bread looks great and what an interesting story! I’d heard of the brand, but not the story behind it. And don’t you just love that almond butter? I’ve been eating it by the spoonful lately, it’s so sweet and yummy :)

I had the pleasure of meeting Dave at a farmer’s market here in Portland a couple of years ago. He’s so humble, really sweet, and very inspiring. Happy to see his bread has made its way down the coast!

Where did you find it? I’ve always wanted to try it out.

Pavillion’s!

I’ve never been able to find Dave’s bread in LA either which is strange since my parents buy it regularly in Central California. I’m definitely going to check out Von’s or Pavillion’s for it!
