in lunch, restaurant, vegetarian

I was invited to lunch today at Bibigo, a worldwide chain that serves a modern take on Korean food.

As you can see, they currently have a contest running through May 12th – Psy is looking for a chef, and you can receive $40K to travel Gangnam Style on his world tour.

Over on the inside…

…I met up with the lovely Alexia and Morgan of Wagstaff. The three of us shared a bunch of appetizers, starting with steamed buns…

…stuffed with grilled spicy pork, pickled radish and cucumber + hoisin teriyaki.

Next up – Green Tacos – Boston Lettuce, Bulgogi, pickled daikon/pepper, cilantro + fresh tomato salsa…

…Rice Balls with seaweed, toasted sesame, + pickled cucumber…

…and Golden Garlic Brussels Sprouts…

…tossed with mini zucchini, chili pepper, and dried prunes.

For the main entree – we each got a Hotstone Bibimbap.

They all come chock full of veggies – kale, bean sprouts, broccoli, mushrooms, and onion – but you choose your protein/rice/sauce. Fried egg is optional.

I wanted some yolk-y action – plus black rice, tofu, and sesame sauce.

Ate about 1/3 of that bowl but nibbled on a few more brussels sprouts + lots of kimchee!

For dessert, a few bites of Green Tea Shaved Ice with sweet red beans, green tea ice cream/milk, and mint…

…plus 1/4 of their Korean Sweet Pancake…

Ho Dduk with fresh berries, vanilla ice cream, and honey.

Everything was delicious – and so fast! I was in/out of there before the (free) parking expired across the street.

Yum looks delish! Is it very authentic, or is it supposed to be fusion?

It’s “modern” Korean!
