LA Weekly’s Plate 2013

I get to attend a lot of food events, but LA Weekly’s Plate may be the most fun!

Usually I am all dressed up and have some kind of acting-related job or schmoozing that I need to focus on. This time, I was invited as a media – my only job was to eat! Showed up in my exercise pants, ready to feast. Early in the day too, so I didn’t wanna gnaw my arm off; not that that stopped me from eating a full week’s worth of food in 2 hours.

The tent at the Petersen Automotive Museum was nice n big, making the 60 tables a cinch to navigate.

There was plenty of “fancy” food – and alcohol too…

…steered clear of the booze, but ate every single thing offered.

Mostly just bites/half portions, especially when the servings were very generous, like Philippe’s French Dip Sandwich

…and Earlez Grille’s hot dogs.

My favorites – The Oinkster’s Pork Adobo Sliders…

Little Dom’s Fried Rice…

The other balls you see above are their famous donuts…

…of which I ate about half a dozen.

Can’t stop myself around the sweets! The people at the Huckleberry table were like, “Oh, it’s you again!” whenever I showed up.

Full slices of all three flavors – Lemon, Carrot Cake, and Chocolate. Seconds on the latter.

Fluff Ice followed…

… so did Blueprint Cleanse Bars…

…and two trips to Pazzo Gelato.

Literati Cafe Cookies and Chocolate Chip Banana Bread – I was ready to burst at this point and wound up taking some extras to go in a napkin…

…along with the one other portable food – a pretzel from Tom Bergin’s.

Once I got home I didn’t want to eat a thing, the entire rest of the day, aside from some candy around 10pm. I’m pretty sure it will take my stomach a few days to recover, but man that was a great way to spend a Sunday!
