So it’s pilot season, and sadly, it hasn’t been a good one thus far. I’ve been a professional actor most of my life – some years it’s crazy, some years it’s dead. And no matter what’s going on, you start to feel crazy.

To be honest, I have not really been in the mood for all the self-help books I’ve started/stopped since my father’s death. The one that I’m currently reading for book club is great because it’s gripping, but doesn’t require much thinking.

Also helpful – this new podcast I’ve started. Lots of great interviews about mental challenges with people in the biz.

For dinner I melded together the leftover dips from Momed with a chopped tomato, then ate half with leftover pita and these Crunchy Pumpkin Chips…

….so, so good – can’t remember if I found them at Ross or TJ Maxx or Marshall’s. Call me nuts, but I find a lot of joy buying discount snacks at discount stores.

Dessert was the last of my crazy Pineapple/Cake Mix/Soda Concoction…

…followed by a miso + movie…

Third time watching “Flirting with Disaster” and it always holds up…

…plus, it made me feel like a lot less of a freak.

For those of you who loved Silver Linings Playbook (same director), I highly recommend checking it out when you’re feeling cuckoo.

I love “Flirting with Disaster”! I caught part of it a couple of weeks ago. I had forgotten how wonderfully wonderful it is.
Yours is a crazy industry. You work hours and hours and hours just so you might get the chance to work for a paycheck. Kkkkkraaazzzzzyy. Make no mistake, you are one tough chick. I’m always rooting for you and would really like to see you on my TV every week.
Oh… is it pilot season? I’d never have known…
I’m sure yours is better than mine.
Ha ha! Doubtful!!!
LOVE The Mental Illness Happy Hour! Listen to it to/from 12-step meetings. Ha.
I feel ya, Lynn! This industry is crazy. Excited to check out that podcast!
I loved The Year of Magical Thinking a lot. Don’t know if you read it yet or not. That Joan Didion is so good. And, I also really like buying snacks from discount stores! So thanks for this post. Now I feel less crazy all around!
I’m so happy I’m not the only one that buys food at Marshalls and TJ Maxx. Other people cringe when I tell them but I find some damn good stuff!
