Momed is one of those places I usually walk past whenever I’m in Beverly Hills – so glad Elana suggested we meet there for lunch today, otherwise, I may never have gone in!

Lots of outdoor seating…

…we opted to stay inside.

“Momed” stands for “Modern Mediterranean.” Pick something from the deli case or off their menu…

…grab a drink…

…and sit! The service is slightly more upscale than most order-at-the-counter places.

I did a little research beforehand…apparently, the must-order is Duck Shawarma…

…shredded duck confit with oven-dried tomatoes, figs, and garlic spread, wrapped in a whole wheat flatbread.

The house coleslaw it comes with is just okay, but this sandwich is utterly delicious – juicy, flavorful, and full of interesting textures.

We also got 3 sides…

…avocado hummus with tahini, garlic, + cumin…

…a Mediterranean Salad of Persian Cucumbers + tomatoes…

…and the Ikra – charred eggplant, tomato, red onion, cilantro.

Two pitas on the side – I felt this was kinda skimpy…

…barely used up my halves…

…plus a little sesame oil dip.

Overall, I thought the food/ambiance was solid and want to come back for dessert…

…FYI they serve Intelligentsia Coffee and LaMill Tea…

…but alas, no wifi.
