Sage Organic Vegan Bistro

January 30, 2013

in dessert, restaurant, vegan

Been wanting to come here since they opened a few years ago! A Blackboard Eats deal (and date with my favorite vegan chef) finally got me through the door on Tuesday.

Leslie and I were amongst the first to arrive, but the place got pumpin with Echo Park Hipsters (including Dax Shepard).

We both ordered bowls and shared – the Chipotle for Leslie, the Soul for moi.

Mine came with Roasted Sweet Potato, Black Beans, Quinoa, Okra, Baby Corn, Sauteed Kale, Garlic Polenta, Horseradish…

…and deep fried Mac and Cheese with Pickled Jalapeño Cabbage.

…yes. I usually only like Okra deep-fried, but now I know dehydrated works for me too!

As yummy as my dish was, I actually preferred Leslie’s – due in large part to the side of Nacho “Cheese.”

Quinoa, Tomato, Chipotle Pepper, Grilled Onions, Black Beans, Kale, Avocado, Bay Corn, Pico de Gallo…

…with an Organic Corn Tortilla buried underneath.

Scored the entire deep fried Jalapeño! It was tasty once I removed all the seeds inside and wasn’t searing my tongue.

BIG BIG portions! Feel like I barely made a dent…

…there was dessert to be had! They have a whole Kind Kreme menu…

…but this raw espresso chocolate cheesecake was calling our names.

Couldn’t put my camera away. So photogenic!

But finally…it got sliced and eaten…

…very, very happily.

Still another few days before MY Blackboard Eats deal expires (we used Leslie’s)…hmmm….may have to come back!

I really like Sage! We had brunch there one day and then popped in for drinks (juice for him, chai for me) another day. Great little spot! If you can’t use your BBE deal in time, I would gladly buy it off you (if such a thing is possible).

Oh my goodness…that cheesecake! It looks amazing. I immediately went to try and find a raw cheesecake recipe.

Oh wow, I wrote that BBE review. I’m so happy you enjoyed Sage as much as I did. It’s a place I’d like to keep in my regular rotation.
