I’ve been lucky enough to dine at Bouchon a number of times, but have never been to the very casual, take-away Beverly Hills bakery nook til today’s meetup with Ameena and Maya…

…have been waiting with anticipation to finally try one thing…

…the Kougin-Amann – described by my friend Nastassia as a cross between a croissant and palmier.

An oatmeal cookie sample was nibbled before heading outside…

…where we unwrapped the loot!

This baby did NOT disappoint – the pastry was buttery, flaky and laced with caramelized sugar.

I shared with the other 3…

…and also snagged a quarter of the chocolate tart.

As if that wasn’t sweet enough, Maya made me sugar cookies, with frosting, sprinkles, and M&M’s.

The butterfly was consumed.

Yum. She’s got a future in baking – watch out Thomas Keller!
