Wendy Wellesley

November 16, 2012

in dinner, eating disorders, travel

The travel insanity continues – depending on my WiFi situation, not sure how often I’ll be posting, or how many pix I’ll be able to upload this next month. You can follow me on Twitter or Instagram for all the latest!

I forget how much longer flying takes when you have a ginormous bag to check-in! Up at 5am on Thursday and just made my flight to Boston.

En route, I slept. Ate a protein bar from my SDAFF SWAG Bag. Watched Ice Age: Continental Drift on a tiny TV. Slept some more.

When I woke up, I was picked up and driven straight to Wellesley!

The discussion lasted nearly 2 hours and was quite special – always the case when a group of women gather. There were about 50 students – and we talked about everything from my eating disorder history to the pressures of being the stereotypical Wellesley Wendy. And in the house was Wellesley’s very own Wendy (Huang), who gave some wonderful advice, facilitated by the Assistant Dean of Intercultural Education, Karen Shih

We had some tasty Indian food…

…takeout from Minerva – Rice, Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Palak Paneer.

My hotel has apples in the lobby – I grabbed one, plus the school paper, before passing out around midnight.

(I made the news!)

Been up since 5am (again) but this time it’s East Coast time – hoping I’ll be alert enough to speak to Professor Lee’s “Asian American Experience” class later on!

Beyond awesome that you are speaking to young women. Yours is a voice they should hear. Very proud of you!

This morning, I thought I saw a familiar face at a Jewish deli in Portland. I kept trying to place the faces and then I realized they were all people I have seen on your blog! Put the pieces together and everything made a lot more sense. Safe journeys!

I think it’s sincerely badass you’re doing this.
And you’re making me miss Boston again! Right near my alma mater – Brandeis :)
