After practice with Edie Sedgwick, Hannah, Hash and I tried to go to dinner at reader-suggested Busboys and Poets, but the wait was 25 minutes. So we wandered across the street into Eatonville.

The restaurant is named after Zora Neale Hurston’s hometown…

…with a very NOLA-inspired theme.

I ordered two sides – the Butternut Squash Hash and Brussels Sprouts…

…lots of this stellar hot sauce on top.

The squash was particularly good – because it was SWIMMING in butter n sugar…

…so was Hannah’s Mac n Cheese…

…with spiral pasta!!!

Also traded bites of my order for some Gumbo…

…and the appetizer-portion of Scallops with Root Slaw.

Hash spared me one of his corn muffins for sopping up extra syrup/sauce.

There’s no written dessert menu, but everything they had (from Peach Cobbler to Key Lime Cheesecake) sounded appealing. We got the Coconut Layer Cake, and it rocked – super duper moist and perfectly sweet…

…split 3 ways.

It was great to be reminded of one of my favorite cities.
