Back on the Farm

in bakeries/cafes/dessert places, lunch, soup/stew

When my cousin Hannah and I took a drive down memory lane back in August, we were shocked to find this cafe in our old hometown.

Farmhouse Cafe and Eatery is very Los Angeles, but not at ALL Cresskill!

My mom and I sat in the sunny upstairs space, and were treated to lunch by friends of the family…

…just like all the places in my city (Urth, Alcove, Sweet Butter Kitchen, Larchmont Bungalow) you order at the counter and they deliver the goodies.

Half of our party got the Hungarian Beef Goulash…

I traded bites with my Mother – I ordered the Spicy Chicken and Chorizo Jambalaya…

…bread too…

…I skipped on that for the Hummus Platter!

Two plates of pita n dip plus olives…

…and a little cuke/tomato/onion action.

Almost nobody had heard of hummus before! (I felt like the Ambassador to Baba Ganoush.)

A beautiful grilled vegetable salad was ordered too, but I was too full for that, or any of their amazing-looking sweets…

…though leftovers were brought home with us!

Speaking of which, Farmhouse Cafe and Eatery also does takeout.

Another reminder I’m definitely not in Los Angeles:

I want to eat there so badly! I am torn between the Hungarian Beef Goulash… the Moroccan Beef Stew & the Grilled Veggie Sandwich! This is one of those restaurants where you have to go back repeatedly until you try everything on the menu.
