The Shit Hits the Fan

Tomorrow’s the big day – my father’s funeral – and it was a horrible dress rehearsal. Just some of the things that happened – my sister-in-law’s car broke down, I had to change our flight back (and was on hold forever with US Airways to no avail), and my mother smashed her side-view mirror. I had been up since 3am and was literally crawling on the floor most of the morning, babbling like a lunatic.

Abe’s red-eye flight was delayed, so he was pretty crazed as well. But we were just so happy to see one another…

…haven’t been together since my father first went into the hospital almost 3 weeks ago. I can’t believe how much has changed and happened since then.

Sweet Saint Tenafly Bagels.

I had half a sesame, smeared with tuna…

…topped with tomato…

…which got all over my shirt, of course. Of course!

At least my Airborne in hot water, just in case.

After an hour nap with my beloved husband, we picked up some frames for my father’s funeral…

…love these Grandpa pix. I’d never seen my Dad being silly like this before.

Speaking of my brother’s children, the car finally made it up the Turnpike after 2.5 hours in traffic.

Abe brought our Wii all the way from California so they could be entertained…

…and my Mom picked up Presto’s Pizza.

I also had some, along with all the other stuff – pastas, salads, fried rice…

…my mother ate all our crusts…

…and I polished off the second half of Abe’s sweet potato.

More peeps came for dessert – Hash brought Indian ones…

…I had those, and let the other peeps enjoy Carolyn’s cake.

With Longan and Grapes.

I’m surprisingly mellow right now, but I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be bonkers. Going to hang out with my family and help put the kiddies to bed. Sweet dreams, everyone.

Just saw the post on Facebook – I’m so sorry for your loss, Lynn. Your father sounds he was a really special man; you’re lucky to have had him, and he, you. Be well; life is so fragile and short, but with so much to be valued.

    Hi sweet Lynn!
Just looking at these recent posts has brought back so many memories from a year ago. I know the ins and outs, ups and downs… However, speaking at my father’s funeral has been the greatest, proudest moment of my life. What an honor to be able to stand in front of people and voice your thoughts on someone so wonderful. I will be thinking of you tomorrow…
    So much love,

It is now after 1 A.M , so I hope that you are now having those sweet dreams; and I am so happy that Abe is with you. Sunday is a big day for you and the family, and you will be with me the whole day. Love to you all. I will be thinking about your Dad and all the love that surrounds you.

It must have been so relieving to see Abe’s face again. I’m glad you guys got to have that nap – even short naps like that could really help you recuperate and you both totally deserved that rest. I know there is no way tomorrow could be easy for you…but best wishes for you and your family from my heart.
