Six at 6

I spent most of Saturday eating melon, writing my massive recaps of the fun and food at Knotts Berry Farms, then putting up Thick Dumpling Skin’s very first podcast!

By the time all that was done, it was time to hit the mall for dinner and a movie – got there early to hold down a table, since Westside Tavern doesn’t take reservations for dinner.

The six of us were seated by 6.

Along with a bowl of the Chili special, I got Baby Mixed Greens with Balsamic Vinaigrette…

…left off the goat cheese, but there was plenty of interesting stuff going on with dried cherries and candied cashews.

I gave away 1/3 of my plate to the table, and took a sample of the BBQ Chicken Flatbread with Grilled Corn, Mozzarella, Jalapeño, and Smoked Tomato Sauce…

…also traded bites of my Chili with Abe’s Farro and Stewed Tomato Dish…

…Seasonal Veggies, Parmesan, Basil, and Smoked Almonds.

This soup special is usually served with a Smoked Mozzarella, but I ordered it without…

…easily one of the best chills ever!

I’ve only been here once – for brunch – and feel that the long waits are worth it. But it would be nice to find a decent restaurant near the Westside Pavillion that takes dinner reservations for large groups.

Try Billingsley’s. Sawtelle and Pico. Large parties are welcome, old timer red cushioned booths and (waitresses). May not be very vegie friendly for Abe but they do have reasonable priced Steaks, chicken and fish.

I’m so sad you didn’t get to try the sticky toffee cake. It’s one of my favorite desserts ever, and that’s saying something. Next time to hit up WP to see a movie, get it to go! xo

I’m so excited that TDS has a podcast. Just listened to the first one and loved what you guys had to say about confidence. Looking forward to future ones!
