When I’m not eating melons, I take food rather seriously.

Been up since 5am, giddy with excitement – Gary and Judy have never had dim sum in The SGV, so I was honored to act as their host and guide. We arrived at Elite just as the doors were opening.

The restaurant began filling up soon after we sat down.

I ordered…

…3 meat-eaters and 1 vegetarian…16 dishes should be enough, right?

Unbuckle your belts – here we go!

Ate at least one whole portion (and a few seconds) of everything. Steamed BBQ Pork Bun…

…Pork Shu Mai…

…and another mystery pig dish that I’m realizing we never asked for. BBQ flavored, with a flaky crust.

Golden Cream Bun (sweet)…

…Mushroom Dumpling with Meat…

…Supreme Mixed Vegetable Rice Noodle (the only savory dish that was vegetarian)…

…Sesame Balls…

…Pan fried corn cake (FYI there’s seafood in it)…

…Shrimp Har Gow…

…Macau Egg Custard.

Everything was solid, but here were the overall table faves – Congee with Double Meat Balls…

…Crispy Shrimp Rice Noodle…

…Crispy Snow Buns…

…and another custard-filled treat, which came around on trays (more like the traditional dim sum carts).

Fried Taro Cake – not everyone liked these…

…I did, so I ate two!

Other you-can-probably-skip-it orders – Sticky Rice Lotus Leaf Wrap (filled with pork and seafood)

Beef short ribs with Black Pepper Sauce

FYI – if you arrive before 9:45am, you can’t order off the Special Chef’s menu…

…we left around that time, and the place wasn’t too bad!

That mystery dish is probably BBQ pork puff pastry (http://khern.wordpress.com/2009/12/25/baked-bbq-pork-puff/).
thanks, carmen!
i think that BBQ pork puff pastry might be Curry in baked bread?! (咖哩角, as we call it in TW) It’s a traditional Chinese snack

wow that’s a lot of food. Like your pendant
Oh, the dim sum looks yummy, quite a lot of variety, even not all the HK dim sum restaurant serves crispy snow buns.
WoW! That's a lot of food…are there more veggie offerings than just the one? I don't think any local restaurants do dim sum. I've been to one in Phila. I kind of don't like to share my food…don't know why.
Yes!
I’ve been there before. The golden sweet buns are my favorite! Not to mention they’re adorable.
