So cool to be featured in the current issue of Backstage! I remember living in NYC, pouring over the Open Casting Calls on the floor of the Barnes and Noble magazine section in Union Square…

…now, I frequent Chevalier’s Books (mentioned in the article) – where I’ve been seriously lusting over IQ84 (the latest from Haruki Murakami) for months…

…the 1000+ page monster has been recently released in paperback, so I finally got it.

Even though I was disappointed by After Dark (his previous novel) Murakami still remains one of my all-time favorite authors. I can’t wait to dig in…

…but first, I have to finish this month’s book club pick (and breakfast)…

…AND the other selection I’ve been reading on/off again since November 2009…

…Kathy Griffin’s memoir is actually really inspiring and fun – don’t know why it’s taken me so long to finish. If Backstage ever asked me to recommend reads for actors, this would definitely be at the top!

Congrats Lynn! Larchmont Village was my backyard until I moved to the South Bay a few years ago. I love the quaint vibe and… Village Pizzeria! My favorite pizza spot! : )
i actually LOVE village pizzeria but have never blogged about it – in 3 years!!!
I absolutely loved 1Q84. I hope you love it!!
can’t. wait.
Hiya Lynne! I finished IQ84 a couple months ago. It was a beast, to say the least, but it is Murakami in the purest sense. The great thing about picking up one of his books is that it forces you to throw that certain “need for reason” out the window! Readers can’t expect answers. Just enjoy the (often disturbing) ride!
I can’t wait! Thanks Bianca!
He is one of my favorites too. I’m so ready for that to come out in paperback. I’ve been eying it for months now. What a day that will be…and I should definitely enjoy the book with a melon.
Oh, IQ84 is on my wish list for books, may have to move it up the list if I can get in paperback. Will have to add Kathy Griffin to the list too, she is from my neighborhood and we went to the same high school (though a decade apart). I’ve seen her around town a few times which cracks me up to say hi to her.
I’ll have to be a naysayer on 1Q84. I hope you enjoy it, but I have been sorely disappointed by it in so many ways. It’s hardly his worst, but this is a book I would’ve rather borrowed from the library rather than spend money.
oh well! thanks for your honest review…
I’m in your neighborhood for the next two weeks so we MUST find a time to get together! I have a dog too, so maybe something puppy-friendly?
Wow! Happy to know that you are a Murakami fan. He’s my favorite author in the whole universe. lol
I’m still waiting the brazilian translation of 1Q84. I don’t wanna read the English version just because it has more then 900 pages in a single volume. Here it will be launched in 3 parts, like the original.
I got SO excited when I opened up my backstage email this morning and saw that you were featured! That is amazing. I’m so proud and excited for you!
And, of course, I love Larchmont Village. It’s one of the most adorable parts of the city, in my opinion. I actually forget that I’m in LA when I’m there.
thanks, emily! next time you’re in larchmont lemme know – we should meet up!
because you spent more time on eating, blogging, being a pretty girl than reading..
