in appetizers, film festivals, fruit, party

I spent all day recovering from the last week of late evenings, then got ready for Closing Night of LAAPFF.

Scarfed down a little snack first…

…most of the Kettle Corn wound up in my hair!

We skipped the Award Festivities but arrived at CGV Cinemas just as it was wrapping up…

…my Yes We’re Open writer/costar H.P. Mendoza not only won “Outstanding Screenplay” for our film, but was also honored in SF Weekly as “Best New Horror Director” for I Am A Ghost!!!

Got really hungry from watching Joyful Reunion

…known as the “sequel” to Ang Lee’s Eat Drink Man Woman, there’s a bunch of food porn in this film – all VEGETARIAN!

Attacked the buffet that followed.

A lot of fruit, Ice-Cream Stuffed Mochi, and platters from Lee’s Sandwiches.

I scarfed down three platefuls…

…does anyone know what kind of fruit this is that I ate?

(Here’s what it looks like on the platter.)

The Banh Mi was vegetarian, but I also consumed a couple meaty offerings from Chasing Paradise

Dudes, I’m pooped.

The festival moves to the O.C. now – I still have ONE more film left! Yes We’re Open will have an encore screening at the Art Theatre of Long Beach tomorrow night at 9pm. I may or may not make an appearance – but my leading man Parry is scheduled to be at the Q&A.

(Now I can call it an award-winning film!!!)

I think the fruit you ate is called soursop. We have that in Singapore too.

The one with the yellow flesh is jackfruit, and the one with the black seeds is soursop.

That looks like jackfruit… but I’m not sure because I don’t eat jackfruit in that way… … …

Soursop sounds like a good guess as well :)

Eat Drink Man Woman is one of my favorites. Joyful Reunion looks divine. Hopefully I will be able to see it soon along with Yes We’re Open and Nice Girls Crew. Congrats on being part of the award winning.

Hi Lynn! The other one looks like an un-ripened Cherimoya. It’s the end of their season :-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherimoya

The one with green skin white flesh and big black seeds is indeed a cherimoya. Also called a custard apple. They’re right in season now.

OMG!!! What a strange fruit!!! I only recognize kiwi on your plate, the other seems to be something similar to a “chirimoya”….
