California (in Florida) Grill

April 22, 2012

in restaurant, salads, vegan

After a long day at Hollywood Studios and Epcot

…we scored another last-minute walk-in. This time at one of Disney World’s most hyped-about restaurants.

California Grill is not only known for its cuisine, but also it’s views.  I’ve actually eaten here once before, when I shot the commercial almost a decade ago…

…but this was my first time with Abe.  Our seats overlooked The Magic Kingdom!  Tres romantic.  It’s that pin, I tell ya…

As the sun went down, I spoke to the chef and we arranged a special tasting plate, called the “Vegan Unplugged.” Essentially, it’s whatever he fancies that’s in season!

Spinach and tomato flatbread…

…baby artichokes with red peppers…

…tomato and avocado…

…sushi rice with nori, mushrooms, and bok choy.

We shared all of those, plus a Peach Salad with Hazelnuts…

…I ate all the cheese off of that one.

With sourdough bread…

…I filled up on about 3 pieces, plus Abe’s extra tomatoes, so there was no room for dessert!

FYI – if you dine here you can watch the fireworks at The Magic Kingdom, but we went to bed, pooped.

My favorite restaurant at WDW, by far. We always try to coordinate our meal with fireworks, but the food alone is worth the trip. If you’re a sushi lover, Yoshi’s sampler is incredible. I’m loving all of your WDW posts.
