The Other Magic Kingdom

sandwich - travel - vegetarian

We conquered the Magic Kingdom in 5 hours! Mostly thanks to rain thinning out the crowds, and because we’re already familiar with most of the rides from Disneyland.

I have to say, California has better versions of some rides, like Pirates of the Caribbean…

…but Florida has got it going ON with the castle!

Even though I stood in front of this thing for days while shooting a commercial almost a decade ago, it still takes my breath away.

We arrived at the park around 5. All I’d eaten all day was a Mickey Ice Cream bar, so I was starving!

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe is located in Tomorrowland, and has three fast food options:

Abe went for Bay 2, I went with #3…both of us ordered the vegetarian options.

The best part about this place was their toppings bar, especially the cooked onions and mushrooms!

Abe piled a patty (they use Gardenburger)…

…and I added more veggies to my veggies

Doubles of everything for me but the ‘shrooms…

…and a sweet cucumber salad

I split the latter with Abe, and we went halfsies on our entrees.  (FYI the burger tastes better.)

Alien ambiance:

Many mellow rides followed while we digested. Here are some that aren’t in Anaheim (at least, I don’t think)…

People Mover

Carousel of Progress

Hall of Presidents (with Obama!)

Also, a Winnie the Pooh ride (<—click for a short video I uploaded on my Mobli page) that definitely would NOT be worth the wait if you don’t have small children.

Another reason we got through everything so quickly?

We ducked in while everyone else was distracted by parades…

…and fireworks.

Two more parks to go today – Hollywood Studios + Epcot – it should be even crazier since it’s the weekend. But there’s also thunderstorms in the forecast so who knows. Follow me on twitter to stay up-to-date on the adventure!

I love Disney! I grew up going to Disney World and even went to Epcot during its “soft opening”! My hubby grew up in CA and told me he preferred Disneyland because it was the original. I went to Disneyland for the first time a few years ago and understood what he was saying. It wasn’t as grandiose as the Disney World resort, but there was a certain charm because it was the original! But you can’t beat a Disney World vacay experience…so much to do and see…and all of it is beautiful!

Oh I miss that castle and those nightly shows! My hubby use to work in Tomorrowland (Buzz, Progress and Laugh Floor) so I’d always hang out with him while Wishes was going on.

Have fun at Epcot! It’s my favorite out of the 4 parks (:

The People Mover and Carousel of Progress used to exist in Anaheim when I was a kid, but haven’t been around for ages! There was also an Abe Lincoln attraction where an automated Abe would talk to the audience. I’m not sure if that’s similar to the Orlando Hall of Presidents. :)
