Cheating on Paleta

February 24, 2012

in breakfast, vegetarian

Even though I love Paleta, daily meal delivery isn’t really my thing – mostly because my schedule revolves around food events with others, and I don’t, in general, like to pre-plan what I’m going to eat. But then Chefs Diet offered me a free day of meals, and I was curious to see how another service would compare. (Plus, how could I say no to something endorsed by everyone from Elmo to Miss USA to Andy Dick?!?)

The insulated bag arrived on my doorstep last night, which I actually prefer to an early AM schedule. That way it’s not as rushed in the morning.

Was a little concerned when I read the menu, since I had requested Vegetarian-only meals (to share with Abe)…

…but no worries; all was well. They replaced the Crab Stuffed Mushroom Caps with a Chocolate Walnut Brownie…

(that means TWO DESSERTS)

…and the Mahi Mahi was subbed with a Soy Chicken Breast.

Hmmm….a bit more photogenic – the Sesame Tofu entree:

Abe will test those out later…they actually might get frozen for another date. I still had melon/miso in the fridge to use up…

…but we did split the breakfast – Macadamia Nut Pancakes with Creamy Vanilla Ricotta Cheese

Moist and yummy – not sweet at all, but I didn’t mind (like I did with yesterday’s vegan waffles).

As you can see from a similar breakfast and typical day’s eats with Paleta, there are a lot less fresh fruit/veggies. The price-range is comparable (plans start at $40/day) so we’ll have to see how the rest of the meals stand up!

Wow, $40 a day seems like a lot … but I guess the convenience is worth it!
