Abe had to go back to work, so I spent the morning with my Surrogate Valentine!

Met Goh at Balconi Coffee Company, which is in a small shopping center on Olympic and Sawtelle

They make their coffee in a siphon (just like “Gale” in “Breaking Bad!“)

There’s no WiFi at this cozy cafe…

…an intentional choice – so you can focus on the java

I ordered a decaf latte…

…non-dairy designs don’t turn out as pretty:

I rarely drink coffee, but when I do, I prefer it with warm soy. It’s slightly sweet, and creamier than nonfat (regular milk/cream is a bit too rich for me).

DELICIOUS. Also yummy – their Blueberry Coffee Cake:

(They offer other baked goods too)

Goh had a few bites, but I devoured the bulk of this flour baby…

…an inside joke, for those of you who have seen our film. We start promoting the sequel very soon!

that coffee cake looks amazing!!
That blueberry coffee cake looks DELISH !
and I’m with ya on the whole soy thing, I like just skim milk in my brewed coffee…but with lattes I always go soy, a much nuttier taste.
sounds like a lovely coffee date.
and i’m excited for your sequel!!
Every time I make it back to your blog, it inspires, refreshes, and makes me SMILE! Thanks!! And I LOVE the no wi-fi deal. Earlier this week I found myself so buried in my phone I almost missed seeing a random Korean guy bust a move on my ride home from work on the train in Seoul. It is really nice to disconnect sometimes!
Oooh, I am loving that navy cable knit cardigan.
thanks! i think i’ve had it since college??? (from j.crew)
I’ve never seen coffee made that way! It’s very interesting!
I’m a coffee person through and through. Love the little hearts on the sweater!
