Even though Christmas is over…

…New Orleans is just getting started!

We escaped the crowds in the French Quarter and walked over to my favorite neighborhood…

…with my Big Daddy (and Mommy) in law, David and Wendy

Our destination – Sound Cafe, which I saw on Treme…

…since it was closed, we stumbled into the nearby Schiro’s, which was actually on my list from last year after Michael Stipe recommended it…

…on Goop, not to me. We have never met. (But speaking of celebs, we kept seeing Parker Posey, one of my favorite actresses, all morning!)
Schiro’s is part restaurant/bar…

…convenience/liquor store…

…laundromat…

…AND Bed and Breakfast!
The menu is equally eclectic…

…we opted for more traditional New Orleans fare…

I doused my po’ boy in a little more than just a drop of this Hot Sauce. It was, indeed, perfect!

As was this fried catfish – I skipped the mayo, but had it dressed in tomato, lettuce, and pickles.

Traded bites for one of Wendy’s fried oysters…

…dipped in cocktail sauce…

…and David’s Tuesday special, Chicken Stew.

There were non-meat options for Abe too (he got a burger) but I didn’t waste my time today on vegetables.

After that long walk/meal, this little piggy needs a nap!!!
