Barbrix is a restaurant/wine bar in Silver Lake that is usually only open at night…

…but not yesterday!

The place was filled to capacity Sunday afternoon for our friends’ wedding shower

Started off with an appetizer – goat cheese crostini, tapenade, + roasted bell pepper. (There were little hot dogs too but I felt like I got my weenie-fix the night before.)

A delicious set menu…

…served family-style

Farro Salad with brussels sprouts, cinnamon yams, roasted cippolini onions, shaved parm

Burrata with artichoke hearts, grilled peppers, and mint pesto

I had a taste of each with a slice of bread…

…and another piece with roasted mussels in garlic butter and red fresno chilis

Next came the entrees – Grilled Moroccan Spiced Lamb with tabouli, muhammara, preserved lemon minted yogurt…

…pan seared Maine Sea Scallops atop a dill yogurt sauce…

…crispy grilled polenta with alba/oyster/shitake shrooms, and a creamy gorgonzola fonduta

YUM. Barbrix makes delicious food!!!

Grilled broccolini was the last to appear…

…spicy! With chili n garlic – I left off the lemon aioli…

…grabbed another spear with seconds on the lamb, tabouli, and bread

Then it was time for dessert! The restaurant provided a Sweets for the Soul chocolate chip brownie…

…but the host Allison made three cakes too:

Can you believe she JUST learned to bake for this occasion?!?

Gives me hope!!!

These were shared amongst the table as well…

…and of course I had some of everything!

My favorite was this lemon cake with a buttercream frosting:

The party lasted 3 hours into the late afternoon – we spent the remainder of the day digesting and watching Season 4 of Breaking Bad (not on Netflix; downloaded online)

Took an apple/cocoa break after a few episodes

I feel rested and ready for a busy work week!

In case you missed it – there’s a $100 Serve by American Express Giveaway launched over the weekend. I’ll pick a random winner on the 17th, so you still have plenty of time to enter.

You weren’t kidding when you said your weekend was all about eating! You got to try some great things! And wow…she learned to bake WELL.
All of the food looks delicious! And those cakes are beautiful!!
The brownie and the apple look delicious! But somehow I still can’t quite manage to rouse up much excitement about savory food.
I’m addicted to Breaking Bad!
And she just learned to bake and was able to whip up those gorgeous desserts? That is seriously impressive. Maybe there’s still time for me to find my baking mojo after all!
