in dessert, holidays

How was your Thanksgiving???

I wasn’t lying when I said mine was going to be turkey-free last week

…that’s why I was shocked to find this guy upon arrival!

Emily and Thad are vegetarians, but they provided a carnivorous delight

IMG_9290

Thad (who just started a food blog with his son) did an impressive job on his first bird – and as usual, knocked the veggie dishes outa the park

Kale with apples and persimmons…

…crispy sweet potatoes with fried sage leaves…

…cranberry sauce…

IMG_9291

…string beans…

Round 1 – white meat

Round 2 – dark

Pie time – this was a pumpkin from the “German Bread lady” at their Farmer’s Market – with a breadcrumb crust

I wound up cutting the Pear and Chocolate Blondies in the pan, then transferring them to a plate

Perfect contrasting textures!

By the end of the meal we realized one dish had been forgotten…

IMG_9316

…quinoa stuffing!!! We were too full to eat it. Which means leftovers to look forward to!

Who knew Thanksgiving was full of Christmas surprises?

All those veggie dishes look amazing! I feel like they just never get the attention they deserve at Thanksgiving when there are things like mashed potatoes & stuffing around (which, I could personally do without!) hah!

I’m so glad you had a nice holiday! =)
