Salt’s Cure

brunch

I love brunch. So does the rest of the city. Saturday and Sunday afternoons, the sidewalks are packed with hungry diners

This is why I rarely make plans to eat out before 5pm on the weekend. But if you’re gonna do it, you gotta do it right.

Salt’s Cure has been on my radar since it opened last August. It’s tiny, and easy to miss – just look catty-corner from Astro Burger on Santa Monica

IMG_8625

The menu is also small, changes daily, and meat-centric

I went with Jacy and Ali – my carnivore comrades

IMG_8610

We arrived 15 minutes before it opened, and were rewarded with a table by the window

I got the Griddle Cakes – the waitress gave me a hard time when I ordered the cinnamon butter on the side, but I know my stomach!

Used just a dab on each layer of the triple stack…

IMG_8635

…soft and fluffy but with a hearty oatmeal bite

IMG_8638

Exchanged half of one for a forkful of quiche…

…and a taste of the 2x2x2 (2 sunnyside-up eggs x 2 housemade sausage patties x 2 pieces of bacon, with tomato and a biscuit)

IMG_8643

That is some delicious pork!!!

Brunch here is worth the wait – especially when you have such lovely company :)

I am so in awe of my buddies Randall and Jae – not only are they a blast to hang out with, they’re an uber talented couple!

Love seeing them work together, and I’m often tickled to randomly catch Randall in movies and on TV (like this episode of Supah Ninjas where he’s stuffing his face)

Last night we got to see Jae do her thing with the comedy troupe OPM

The show was HILARIOUS – tonight’s their last time performing, but they’re going on twice. So if you’re looking for some belly laughs, get your tickets ASAP!

IMG_8598

I wolfed down some leftover Lion’s head soup before the performance…

IMG_8571

…was craving something cold and sweet afterwards

There was talk of Pinkberry, but we couldn’t figure out which ones were open anymore. Also Dolewhip (there’s a Groupon going on right now) but Abe thought it’d be too crowded. Finally, the four of us headed over to Twirl on Larchmont – a perfect choice!

Fresh fruit base…

IMG_8587

…peanut butter and banana swirl (or twirl?)

IMG_8592

Toppings! I’d never eaten these candy-coated peanuts before

IMG_8593

Sprinkled a few on, with a gummy/jellybean assortment

Always fun spending time with the Brangelina of the API Entertainment community!
