Surprises

snacks

Don’t you hate it when you cut into stone fruit…

IMG_3977.JPG

…and it turns out that sucker’s a clinger?!?

IMG_3980.JPG

I still managed to make some pretty slices for breakfast – half for me, half for Abe

IMG_3986.JPG

We also shared this toasted Herb’s Garlic Bagel, spread with Tofutti Cream Cheese

Surprise! A vegan meal!

Surprise! Emergency trip to the dentist!

You know those nightmares where your teeth are falling out? Or if you had braces, that you forgot to wear your retainer (or in my case, a headgear <—-yes, total geek) – that’s what it felt like when my temporary tooth came loose. Kinda disturbing.

Once I could chew again I did. HUNGRY!

What-chos – though I think I’ll call these Raw-chos since I put them on Raw Crackers

The Last of the Bru Haus Sausages (wouldn’t that be a great name for a book?)

A little freshness

Surprise! Someone I graduated college with was on Carson Daly last night!

Amanda (Fucking) Palmer was always very musical and one-of-a-kind at Wesleyan. It’s great to see her have so much success.

Poached

dessert - dinner - gluten free - salads - vegetarian

My dessert craving hit early yesterday!

IMG_9856.JPG

I’ve got a whole stash of sweets, but I wanted something very specific. Crunchy. Cookies.

IMG_3916.JPG

I ate two Vanilla Honey Grahams around 5pm. Consistently impressed with all the products Enjoy Life has sent over the last two years – they certainly don’t taste gluten-free!

Before leaving to pick Abe up from work, I made a quick salad dressing for dinner, popping open a new bottle of EVOO

IMG_3541.JPG

Malibu Olive Oil is as local as it gets for me!

IMG_3536.JPG

Tomato Dressing for 2

1 teaspoon each – tomato paste, whole grain mustard, lemon zest…

IMG_3921.JPG

…juice of a lemon, 2 tsp. Romanelli Quattro Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Shake shake shake

I had an audition to prepare for, so in exchange for my chauffeuring services, Abe made dinner. Thanks to the Mark Bittman iPhone App, he’s now an experienced egg poacher!

IMG_3939.JPG

Mixed greens got tossed with my prepared dressing, and some farmers market plum tomatoes were sliced

IMG_3944.JPG

Abe threw in some cornichons too. (<—-He’s so cute!)

IMG_3955.JPG

The yolk added another silky layer. So yummy.

IMG_3963.JPG

Since I already ate those cookies, I stuck to grapes post-meal

Remember “Yes We’re Open” – the movie I shot in San Francisco? It’s almost finished – we just need to raise $10K by October 3rd. Visit the Kickstarter page – you can pledge anything from $1, or just help spread the word – every bit helps!
