Power Pancake Lunch

gluten free - restaurant - salads - vegan

My schedule this week is getting bonkers!!! I spent all morning cleaning, then hopped in the car and drove to the Valley for a lunch meeting at Hugo’s

I’ve been to the West Hollywood restaurant a few times, but this was my first time at the Studio City location

It was also my first time eating there when they actually serve their famous pancakes (before 4pm)

My dining companion Jennifer is gluten-free, and we decided to share:

When we couldn’t decide between all the pancake options, the waiter told us we could split the order!

Both were STELLAR – thick, fluffy, moist, and full of flavor. This was the roasted pineapple coconut…

…we both preferred the Almond Energy one a little bit more:

(Next time, I’m going to try the Pumpkin!)

We also shared a large order of the Beet Quinoa Salad – I had my half without Gorgonzola Cheese so they brought it out on the side

This was an amazing dish as well – sweet cooked beets, scallions, and fresh herbs tossed with walnuts in a sherry vinaigrette. The finely chopped veggies made all the difference!

I believe everything I ate was vegan too? (Speaking of which, don’t forget to enter the Brody’s Bakery Cupcake Giveaway!!!)

Color Me Snacky

brunch - snacks

What a fun and yummy weekend! If you’re just catching up on posts, here’s a few you may be interested in: A Vegan Cupcake Giveaway, my blog’s 2nd Birthday, and a recipe for Granola Bread

…which was brought to the brunch I attended Sunday morning:

There were also Caramelized Onion Frittatas, Coffee Cake, Cuke/Tomato/Yellow Pepper Salad, Fresh Fruit, and Pepper Bacon

Some of everything…

…seconds on all but the eggs (there weren’t any left!)

We took our cousins out for the afternoon – this was my first trip to Color Me Mine.

I painted a spoon rest. (You’ll have to wait to see my masterpiece after it’s been glazed/fired!)

Wasn’t hungry when we took the kids out for pizza and ice cream, but by the time they were dropped off at 5pm, I needed a snack. Had the usual

…which left me with no appetite for dinner. So I ate popcorn

Fancied up:

With more snacks…

…and the Tony’s!

Song and dance got the appetite going…one more snack plate before bed:

Dried figs, pineapple, mango, papaya, Texas BBQ Kale Chips, and the last of the Frog Hollow Cherries

I consumed a lot more candy than usual too. I don’t think I’m ready for the weekend to be over!
