Wow – I can’t believe it’s only 1:30pm and so much has happened already! First thing’s first – we dropped off Abe’s parents at LAX:

To help combat the sadness of saying goodbye, we treated ourselves to a West Side brunch at Huckleberry.

Woah – apparently we weren’t the only ones with this idea – parking in the back lot wasn’t too bad at 10am, but there was a loooong line.

I tried to save us seats while Abe ordered, but was informed that was a no-no. Oops!

Despite the crowds, this is my kinda place!

The baked goods looked amazing, but I was a bit overwhelmed and decided to just stick to the menu…

…though I’m kicking myself now for not ordering a piece of this to go – it looks like it could rival Urth Caffe’s version!

We were able to find seating outside. It was cold, but better than the noisy chaos indoors.

And this way, our little Huckleberry Hound could join us!

I bused the table myself; you also are responsible for bringing out your own water/condiments.

The food arrives pretty quickly, though!

I ordered the Quinoa, Spinach, and Butternut Squash topped with two Eggs, Sunnyside Up. Abe got the Soft Baked Eggs with Roasted Tomato Sauce, White Beans, and Parmesan Cheese:

I love eating brunch in my pajamas! Reminds me of college.

This is the kinda meal I would cook at home – except I never take the time to roast whole cloves of garlic – makes a BIG difference.

Abe got some runny-yolk action too.

Traded bites for bites. And bites.

FABULOUS!

Breakfast like kings – we had energy to tackle three loads of laundry, clean the entire house, and this is normally when we’d be rolling OUT of bed on a weekend!
Next up on the agenda – put up the X-mas Tree, take Julius for a walk, maybe see a movie, and of course…

Wow! What a day and what a breakfast! I need to find/open a place like Huckleberry in Austin. I just love when you can order breakfast food that isn’t the standard eggs and pancakes. Delicious! Thank you for sharing. I hope you are having a lovely Saturday afternoon!

Whaaaaat? $45 for a pie! And it looks like that was the marked DOWN price. Obscene! Stick to the Whole Foods chocolate pecan, I say.
Glad you enjoyed brunch, and happy tree-decorating! xoxo

That place looks super sweet! I’m glad you found a place to sit. You picked the same breakfast I would have picked (if I ate eggs). I’m going to try something similar with some tofu tomorrow morning!

I went to Huckleberry back when it opened last June (I think?). I was NOT impressed! It was crazy busy and the food was just average. Ali and I swore we’d never return, especially because of the crowds but now I am inspired to maybe give it another chance?
I still need to try huckleberry…I was way too hungry when we attempted so left because of the line! Your food sounds great though!
