Thought that title might snag some new readers in a google search. Sorry, for those of you hoping to see Lauren Conrad. Surprise! Welcome to Lynn Chen’s food blog!!!
Our friend from the east coast, Shelby, is in the O.C. for a wedding so we left L.A. this morning to have lunch with her.
That’s precisely what it is – an outdoor stand…
…only instead of the usual burgers and hot dogs you’d expect, it’s all vegan!
They couldn’t have been more friendly, offering us a sample as we stepped up to the window. We each had a bite of the Chunky Cauliflower soup.
Abe and I split our orders. One Oriental Vegetable Burrito
(Steamed veggies, alfalfa sprouts, ginger tamari sauce)
And a Veggie Burger (this picture doesn’t do it justice – it was HUMONGOUS). We got it with the works – the soy patty came with guacamole, alfalfa and sun sprouts, tomato, pickles, mustard, ketchup, mild salsa, and lemon herb dressing. Comes with a side of tortilla chips.
I could barely fit my mouth around the burger. Everything sorta fell out when I took my first bite, including a whole pickle!
Also tried some of Shelby’s lentil soup (she got the soup/sandwich combo)
The food was just okay – reminded me of the meals from when I was a vegetarian as a teenager – really fresh, but kinda bland. They have a lot of condiments, though, which helped:
Still, I really liked this place, and if I’m ever in the area again I’ll be back. There’s so much on the menu to try, and it’s dog friendly too!
After lunch we hung out a little bit at Shelby’s hotel. See those dots in the ocean?
Definitely heard some conversations reminiscent of the MTV show in the parking lot….traffic back was brutal! Once I get this post up it’s time to make dinner!
