Another successful clothing swap last night! While waiting for my friend Andrea to pick me up I sipped on a Dr. Zevia.

The Yelp-sponsored event took place at the W Hotel in Westwood

We were instructed to put our old clothes in the designated area, then assigned group numbers for when it would be time to swap.

Andrea, Christy, and I hung out in a cabana while we waited

Validation for the event was $14!!! We were told it would be half that price if we ordered food from Nine Thirty – I was hungry for dinner so I got the Caramelized Brussels sprouts

A small bowl for $11 but what do you expect at a fancy hotel? It was quite delicious, though – crispy and hot with red pepper-parsley salad and toasted almonds. The waiter informed me they got high marks on Zagat, and I found this old article in the LA Weekly with the recipe, proclaiming them the Best Brussels Sprouts in 2009 (apparently their price got inflated since then).
Once the group numbers were announced, it was ON! Ladies went crazy – flinging clothes left and right, pushing one another out of the way…

…I didn’t even bother trying things on; just grabbed what I thought might look good and called it a night!
Back home I had a fancy schmancy dessert…

1/2 a warmed up Brody’s Bakery Brownie and a scoop of Sweet Lucie’s Oatmeal Raisin

HEAVEN!!! This would’ve cost $15 if I got it at Nine Thirty, I’m sure…
I still have to sort through what I took home with me – and see if it fits! This event was fun, but I much prefer the swaps I do with friends…much more civilized!

My movie, “The People I’ve Slept With” opens in NYC today! It’s playing at the Clearview Chelsea all week.

Looks like a fun (and swanky!) clothes swap event. I agree with you; home swaps are much less crazy and more fun with your girlfriends.
Congrats on your movie’s debut today!
That is so exciting! Wish it was here…I would definitely go and see it!
Sounds fun! Can’t wait to see what you ended up with…
i stayed at the W Hotel in Westwood last summer and we ordered room service in for one night. oh my gosh – a veggie (portobello) burger was around 30 dollars.
the clothing swap looked fun!
wow, that looks pretty fun! Hope you like what you came home with!
Congrats on the debut! That’s so exciting!!!
I hope a few of the things you grabbed worked for you- events like that would probably stress me out- I don’t do well with crowds. ha ha
Congrats on the opening of the movie!! That is so exciting.
I wish I could see it!
I just saw the trailer and I SOOOO want to see it!! Everytime I saw you I was like ”She’s soooo pretty!!”
I laughed my a$$ off at the:
-”How do you know for sure?”
-”Because you’re the only one I’ve been with!” Lmfao!!
Do you think it’ll be available soon in Canada?
thanks! just wanna be sure you know that i’m the one with the bangs – not the star of the movie – we get confused for one another alot! it will not be in canadian theaters, but it will play in vancouver tomorrow for a film festival: http://www.queerfilmfestival.ca/content/MORE_SNEAK_PEEKS_/696
and should be on dvd soon!
Oh my Goodness – a movie?! Your a star!!
That brownie/ice cream combo – just made my day thank you very much
thanks, dear! if you want to see a film i star in that’s on dvd you can rent “saving face” from netflix, blockbuster, etc. it’s one i’m very proud of
and yes, brownies + ice cream is so amazing – i don’t know why i never made it at home before!
That is exciting about your movie!!! If I was in NYC I would see it
That clothing swap is such a great idea. It’s a good way to get rid of clothes you don’t wear any more and pick up some new stuff along the way.
Congrats on your movie’s debut!! I’m sure you’re an old hand at this now, but still – exciting!!
I love the idea of a clothing swap, although I agree I think I’d rather do one with friends than with a pushy mob.
I think it is awesome that your poster is next to Eat, Pray, Love. I’m sure your movie is far better too!
Congratulations on the movie! That’s so exciting!
The swap sounds like a riot, but I’d prefer a more sedate version with friends. Meanwhile, you did well with those brussel sprouts!
Congrats on your movie opening. The movie sounds really interesting and funny.
I hate expensive food, but it sounds like you had fun.
congrats on the movie opening!! so exciting!
revel in today. and enjoy it!
love, becca
They better be damn good brussels sprouts for $11, haha. Glad you had fun at the event. Love the movie poster!
Let’s see the clothes!
I have never been to a clothes swap like that – is it sorted by size at all?
They tried to keep it organized but it was insanity. Definitely not separated by size!!!
looks like SO much fun!!!
That is awesome, congrats!
The swap looks really neat! I wish I could go to something like that- but I’d definitely have to try stuff on before I left!
So cool to see your movie poster next to Eat, Pray Love!
That clothing swap sounds like madness!
That’s so cool about your movie!
Sweet Lucie’s ice cream is amazing. I love it!
Congrats on your movie opening in NYC! This looks really funny! I’m so mad your movies don’t play in Edmonton. Wanna hear something funny? Hubby uses you to try to get me to move to Vancouver. “You know, if we moved to Vancouver you can watch all of Lynn Chen’s movies right when they come out in the theatres. Lynn Chen on the big screen, eh eh?” Lol. Very tempting, very tempting
Cool clothing swap (other than the insanity). And I’m sure Christy stayed away from your brussels sprouts huh?
I’d be FIRST in line for your movie! I’ll tell all my NY friends to go see it (I used to live there). That swap looks like fun! do they do it often. Id love to go!
So it looks like Dr.Zevia needs to hire you to do their commercials
Congrats on your movie! That’s so exciting
The clothing swap sounds fun but I don’t know if I an woman-enough for such a sport- ha!
Congrats on the movie opening!
How exciting about the movie! Congratulations…I wish you were able to be in NYC for the premiere. And the clothing swap sounds like so much fun…they need to do that here in Austin!
Where have I been? I haven’t even heard of clothing swaps – and they’re here in Los Angeles! Seems like the event was a success.
