SV Day 9 – “Rachel” Wraps

Last day shooting the indie film “Surrogate Valentine.”

Sunday was my last day of shooting Surrogate Valentine. Β I start off the work day as usual, in hair and makeup with a free blog sample breakfast. This is from Vega Sport.

I mixed it with some water. Not too terrible tasting, considering it has spirulina in it (which I usually can’t stand).

But just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down! Lots of beautiful donuts on set.

I eat half of a coconut one with my Vega drink.

It is a full day – about 9 hours. Thanks, Serena, for taking on set photographer duties!

Between shots I snacked on an apricot.

We break for lunch at 3pm – takeout from North Beach Pizza.

I have an ooey gooey slice with tomatoes, peppers, artichoke, and basil.

A few hours later I picture wrap and say goodbye to everyone before Serena rushes me off to the airport. I felt like Dorothy at the end of the “Wizard of Oz.”

SFO is pretty crazy; I find a less-crowded wing and pick up a sandwich from “Klein’s Deli,” where there wasn’t a monster line.

I order a roasted turkey with mustard, pickles, lettuce and tomato.

On sourdough bread, of course.

They put this sandwich together in about 30 seconds and it is ah-maaaazing.

I’ve had this energy bar from Nutribiotic hanging out in my purse for weeks; I finally break it out while waiting for my plane to board.

It looks and tastes like a piece of really thick fruit leather…

And listen to Goh’s “Ulysses” album while I eat and people-watch. Β It is the perfect soundtrack for everything going on at that moment.

I’m really happy with how filming went – even though it is one of the lowest budget shoots I’ve ever worked on, it was definitely one of the most fun and fulfilling. Β I’m so grateful to Dave for giving me the opportunity to work with him and his crew again and feel lucky to have gotten to know/work with my very talented and cool co-stars.

I’m also feeling a bit sad (as I always do whenever I wrap a project I really care about) but it’s good to finally put “Rachel” to rest (I’ve been inhabiting her mind for over 3 months now) and get back to my husband, my dog, and SLEEP!!!

I got close to 7 hours last night. πŸ™‚

Happy Belated Father’s Day to my Daddy!

Sometimes the lowest budgeted movies are the best! Glad you feel good about it and hope you can relax now!

I love anything on sourdough bread – that turkey sammie looks delicious (sans the tomato!)

Congrats on finishing filming! I’m sure it’s a little bittersweet since you’ve put so much of yourself into the project. I can’t wait to see it!
By the way, that pizza looks AMAZING.

What a busy few days for you! I loved seeing that coconut donut…I wish I had one to dip into my cup of coffee. Sometimes you just need a donut!

    What beautiful pictures!
You know, it’s weird that you mentioned pizza in this post because just recently I’ve been craving pizza, and since my ED has kept me from it for years, I’ve been slowly trying to experiment with what I can allow myself with having my ED freak out. I’ve been trying those cheese pizza lunchables (hehe!) that I was actually pleasantly surprised with…
Since then I’ve had some “regular” pizza slivers, but no regular slices. Your post just reminds me that I need to keep trying to get there!

πŸ™‚ congrats on the shoot! <3floey

You had quite the productive week! Ok, seriously…I wanted to jump through the screen and eat that pizza! I am so making that combination this week! YUM!

I actually thought of you, amber when I was putting it together! Its a petticoat alley silk dress and a free people “jacket”. I didn’t rock the shoes I think you would’ve though! Stuck to flip flops and bare feet.

Thanks Lynn. Glad the pics turned out okay. Jealous, I only got 4hours again, arrived on set which circumstances turned it into an impromptu day off today for us πŸ™
Still got to get you to a burrito place next time you’re here. We’ll do a blog post for that!

Ending a project always depresses me, especially when you have such an amazing time with people on set. Free hotels and meals make me feel better though… πŸ™‚

ok girl, now that green drink and the donut do not go together, ok? lol
that pizza on the other hand is fabulous. there must be a full serving of veggies on that one.

Ha ha yeah I know the combo is pretty gross. But it kinda fits my food philosophy to a T!

  15. Erica

Ah! Very cool on set shots! Glad to hear the experience was a good one! I love people watching at the airport…sometimes you wonder where some of these people are hiding πŸ˜‰ Enjoy your time with the man & puppers

  16. Christina

That pizza looks delicious. I’m putting artichoke on my next pie now!

I’m happy you liked how your shoot turned out!
