Christy – Girl’s Day Out

in product review, restaurant, travel

My brother in law, James, and his two kids Gabe and Isabel live in Long Beach and though we try, we definitely don’t get to see them as much as we’d like. But last week, James’s girlfriend Tina suggested that we do a girls afternoon out so that she, Isabel and I could have some time together. I was so excited!

We decided to meet in Manhattan Beach which is somewhat halfway for both of us. I had a small breakfast so I would be hungry for lunch. An apple, a green drink and a little piece of toast with some Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter

For lunch we decided to go to Open Sesame, a restaurant with middle eastern cuisine on Sepulveda. Tina said this is a chain restaurant with another location in Long Beach. I had never been to one though and all the food looked amazing.

There ended up being four of us – Tina, Isabel (my niece), Sara (Isabel’s friend) and me

I ordered a house salad that had lettuce, cucumbers, green peppers, tomatoes, olive and feta cheese

And a Zaatar pizza that had all kinds of spices (thyme, sumac, sesame seeds), tomatoes, olives and mint baked on a pita

Isabel got an amazing looking vegetarian combo, of which she ate the falafel and some of the hummus. I helped her out with some of her tabouleh and baba ghannouj

After lunch, we headed to a local nail salon and had pedicures. Isabel and Sara got done first, so I took pictures of their newly blue toes

And each other :)

After that we said our goodbyes and headed our separate ways. It was so much fun, I can’t wait to plan another girls outing!

What do you like to do for your girls days out?

One of my closest friends is a waitress at that Open Sesame!! You didn’t by any chance have a cute girl with a Belgian accent wait on you, did you? ;)

Girl’s day out…gosh, I feel like I haven’t had one in SO long. Usually lunch, a farmer’s market, a workout date, coffee/tea, some shopping (although I prefer to shop alone…get in, get out, get on with life!), or a combo….

We didn’t! But that would have been fun it we had met her! Workout dates, farmer’s market dates – those are my favorite.

That looks like so much fun! That food looks delicious!!! I live with a bunch of boys so I don’t do a whole lot of girl outings. I went to Whole Foods yesterday with a girlfriend and that was fun! Have a great week!
