Lynn – Lemonade

December 21, 2009

in restaurant

We spent the rest of our Sunday chilling on the beach with our friend Thad and his son Lincoln.

Lots of digging was done.

Abe had an idea to go to a food truck on Abbot Kinney in Venice; when I did a search on twitter I came across the daily special for a restaurant I’ve been hearing a lot about, Lemonade. That sounded a lot more appealing (and kid friendly) than eating on the sidewalk so we decided to make that our dinner destination.

Inside is a very sleek cafeteria…

…with tons of great cold salad options:

They let you have a sample of whatever you’d like!

I chose a plate with two salads, which they actually let you divide into four, since each choice equals two scoops. I picked the peruvian purple potatoes with capers; chicken with butternut squash, almond, and grapes; braised red apple cabbage with goat cheese; and the roasted brussels sprouts with parmesan:

Not bad for a little over 7 bucks!

The restaurant also has sandwiches, soups, and stews:

Plus a bunch of yummy-looking desserts.

And of course…lemonade!

I had a sip of Abe’s ginger peach concoction, as well as a few bites of his spaghetti squash and cauliflower (and some of Lincoln’s mac and cheese too). Everything was totally delicious and I was totally stuffed when we left – too full for cupcakes (which were only a buck)! So glad we discovered this gem – they have locations that are closer to our side of town that I definitely plan to check out.

Oh – we also saw Kate Bosworth as we were finishing up our dinner. We seem to always spot her at healthy food places.

Around 9pm last night I started feeling my appetite again. I had an organic orange I brought from home…

…still peckish so I followed that with some Mrs. May’s Naturals Pom-Raspberry Crunch and a decaf pumpkin spice tea (Stash makes this)…

…and as I started to prepare my blog on ecto I was still hungry so I munched on an apple too.

Finally satiated! Then it was time for bed – big plane trip….dunno if the next time you hear from me I’ll be in the air (we’re flying Virgin America, which has wifi) or in NJ. Either way, hope you had a great weekend!

OMG, so many exotic foods! Purple potatoes?! I’ve only ever seen blue potatoes… o_o Wonderful dessert selection, too! I wish I had a nice, cheap place like that near my house. Are we going to be seeing more of Lemonade in future posts?! ;)

Wow…that looks like a great salad selection. And any place that is so generous with samples is great in my book. It’s the reason I love See’s Candies so much.

I LOVE Lemonade! I adore their farro salad with parmesan and their balsamic roasted brussel sprouts! Oh and yes…their $1.00 red velvet cupcakes! Delicious!
